What To Do

Step 1

Mix about 1/2c water & 2 tsp white vinegar and put into a small spray bottle. Spray the center of your paper towel with a mixture of water & vinegar. Place your hard boiled egg in the center and and wrap the paper towel around the egg. Secure at the top with an elastic.

*TIP for more vibrant colored eggs. When they’ve finished boiling, soak them in a bowl with water & a generous splash of vinegar for about 10 minutes.

Step 2

Now for the fun part. Begin to squeeze drops of food coloring on the egg, using whatever combination of colors you want. We found the Neon food coloring pack gave the most vibrant colors.

Step 3

Now that your egg is colored, take your vinegar solution spray bottle and spray the egg a few times to allow the colors to blend together. Be sure not to over soak the paper towel. Just enough to mix the colors. Gently squeeze the paper towel after spraying and set in a glass dish to dry. The vinegar is what helps the color adhere to the egg, and gives the egg more vibrant colors.

Step 4

Set the eggs aside and allow them to dry. We set ours in front of a fan to speed up the drying process. Once dry, unwrap and enjoy your masterpiece!
