Hey there crafty friends! Fall is definitely in the air, which gets me so excited for cozy sweaters, warm drinks, and fun holiday crafts! With Thanksgiving being our next holiday, I thought it was a perfect time to share a special project that I’m sure will become a cherished family tradition! : the Thankful Turkey Craft for kids.
This craft is not only adorable, but it’s a fantastic way to teach kids about gratitude. Whether you’re looking for a fun classroom activity, a creative way to keep the little ones busy during the weekend, or simply a meaningful project to do together as a family, this Thankful Turkey Craft is just what you need. I love how this simple yet thoughtful craft helps kids express what they’re thankful for while creating a cute turkey that’s perfect for displaying on your fridge as a daily reminder to be thankful.
If you’re anything like me, you appreciate crafts that are easy to set up and don’t require a lot of complicated supplies. The Thankful Turkey Craft for Kids ticks all the boxes—it’s budget-friendly, mess-free, and involves materials you probably already have at home. Plus, it’s versatile enough to adapt for kids of all ages.
I’ve created a Thankful Turkey Template to make the process even easier for you. You can print it out on colored paper, or print on white paper and have the kids color it themselves. Either way will created an adorable Gratitude Turkey.
So, gather up those craft supplies and get ready to create a memorable Thanksgiving keepsake with your little ones. Thankful Turkey Craft
What You’ll Need
- brown card stock (or recycle a cereal box)
- red, yellow, orange card stock or regular paper
- Thankful Turkey printable (download at end of post)
- scissors
- glue stick
- googly eyes
- sharpie marker
What To Do
Step 1
Download and print the FREE Thankful Turkey Template below, onto white cardstock and cut out the pieces.

Step 2
Trace the turkey outline and the turkey wings onto brown card stock or the inside of a cereal box, and cut out.
Step 3
Print the turkey feather pages onto red, orange and yellow cardstock and cut out
Step 4
With the left over paper from the turkey feathers, cut out the feet and beak with orange paper, and the turkey wattle with red paper.
Step 5
Begin gluing all the pieces onto the turkey outline. I like to begin with the “I’m Thankful For” sign. Then glue the wings on top of the sign. Attach the googly eyes in just the right spot to give your turkey some personality. Finally, add the beak and wattle to bring your turkey to life!
Step 6
Invite the kids to write one thing they’re thankful for on each feather, then glue the feathers around the turkey to create a beautiful display of gratitude. This can be an ongoing activity in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving—encouraging them to add a new feather each day, or whenever they feel inspired. By Thanksgiving, you’ll have a turkey full of heartfelt messages that reflect the true meaning of the holiday!
Step 7
Add a magnet to the back of your turkey so you can keep it on the fridge as a daily reminder to be thankful for all things.
