Holiday StoveTop Potpourri Gift
What You’ll Need
- clear plastic cone bags
- fresh cranberries
- whole cloves
- star anise
- cinnamon sticks
- fresh rosemary sprigs
- clementine, or small orange
- ribbon
- free printable gift tag

What To Do
Step 1
Prepare the oranges. There are two options to choose from. You can slice the oranges and dry them, or add the orange whole to the gift bag. I prefer the look of the dried oranges, so I dried mine. They’re also great to use as an embellishment when attaching the gift tag.

How to Dry Orange Slices
Option 1:
Use a food dehydrator. This is my preferred method. I found the orange slices maintained their vibrant color in the dehydrator compared to oven drying. I arranged the slices in the dehydrator and set it to 130 degrees for 12hrs (although they were dry at around 8 hrs)
Option 2:
Dry the slices in the oven. Place a cooling rack onto a cookie sheet, then arrange the orange slices on the rack. This will allow air flow in the drying process. Place oranges in a preheated oven at 200 degrees, for 2-4 hours, turning them every 30 minutes so the edges don’t curl.

Step 2
Fill the plastic cone bag with the fruit and spices. This is the order I placed the ingredients:
- 1 tbsp whole cloves
- 3-5 star anise
- 1/2c fresh cranberries
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- top with slices from 1 clementine or small orange (save a dried slice to add with the gift tag) OR just add a small orange for the recipient to slice

Christmas Potpourri Spices
Whole Cloves
Cloves bring a warm, spicy aroma with a slightly sweet and peppery note. Their rich scent evokes feelings of comfort and nostalgia, making them a holiday favorite. Cloves are also known for their natural antibacterial properties, adding a fresh, clean element to your potpourri.
Cinnamon Sticks
Cinnamon sticks infuse your home with a classic, cozy fragrance that’s both sweet and earthy. This timeless spice is perfect for creating a festive atmosphere, evoking the warmth of freshly baked holiday treats. It also helps to promote relaxation and reduce stress during the busy holiday season.
Star Anise
Star anise has a unique, licorice-like scent that’s sweet, spicy, and slightly floral. Its bold aroma pairs beautifully with other holiday spices, adding depth and a touch of sophistication. Star anise is believed to boost mood and create a calming environment, making it a wonderful addition to your stovetop potpourri.
Fresh Rosemary
Rosemary offers a refreshing, herbal fragrance that’s crisp and invigorating. This evergreen herb balances the sweetness of the spices with its clean, pine-like scent. Rosemary is known for its uplifting and energizing properties, making it perfect for refreshing your space and lifting holiday spirits.

Step 3
Tie it all together with a festive Christmas twine bow, a dried orange slice, and the free printable gift tag for the perfect finishing touch!
