Welcome back to our creative corner, where we’re all about transforming simple ordinary items into something extraordinary with our quick & easy crafting projects! Today I’ll take you on a step by step tutorial on how to make DIY Glass Magnets.

My daughter made these a few years ago and I thought they were so cute that I decided to recreate them for myself. Normally I like to keep my refrigerator clear of papers but there is an occasional note that I need to keep posted. These Glass gem magnets are a perfect pretty touch for the fridge!

There are so many beautiful scrapbooking papers available. I love that each set has a color theme and they all coordinate with each other. So you could go with a color scheme to match your kitchen decor, or if you’re extra like me you can even have magnet sets for different seasons. How fun is that?!

There are so many creative ideas for homemade glass magnets besides using scrapbooking paper. Here are just a few to peak your creativity.

DIY Glass Magnet Ideas

1. Kids’ Fingerprint Magnets:

Create personalized magnets by capturing your kids’ fingerprints on small pieces of paper or cardstock. You can then seal the prints with clear glass gems to preserve them and attach magnets to the back.

2. Photo Magnets:

Print out your favorite photos and cut them to fit the size of your glass gems. Glue the photos onto the flat side of the gems and attach magnets to the back to create custom photo magnets.

3. Map Magnets:

Cut out maps of your favorite destinations or places you’ve traveled to and attach them to glass gems. These map magnets serve as reminders of your adventures and can also make great gifts for fellow travelers.

4. Watercolor Art Magnets:

Create miniature watercolor paintings on paper and cut them to fit the size of your glass gems. Seal the paintings with clear-drying craft glue and attach magnets to the back for a gallery-worthy display on your fridge.

5. Nail Polish Magnets:

Use nail polish to create colorful and glossy designs on small pieces of paper or cardstock. Once dry, cut out the designs and adhere them to glass gems. Seal the designs with clear nail polish for added shine and durability, then attach magnets to the back.

Are you ready to create? Let’s make a nice cup of coffee or tea, grab some supplies and get crafting! You won’t believe how easy these are to make…..and they’re so cute!

WHAT TO DO

Step 1

Choose your craft paper. Place a glass gem over the part of the pattern you like on your craft paper and trace around the gem.

Step 2

Using scissors or a circle punch, carefully cut out small shapes from your chosen craft paper that are slightly smaller than your glass gems.

Step 3

Once you have your paper cutouts ready, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the flat side of a glass gem. Gently press one of your craft paper circles onto the glue, ensuring that it’s centered and smooth. Be sure that the edges are secured. Repeat this process for each glass gem, allowing the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step. When your glass gems are dry, add a thin layer of Mod Podge to the backside of the paper. This will protect the design and prevent it from lifting.

Step 4

When your glue is completely dried, it’s time to add the magnets. Using the E6000 glue, apply a thin coat on the entire surface of the magnet. I used a toothpick to apply the glue. Gently press it onto the back side of the glass gem. Hold it in place a few seconds to ensure it doesn’t slide, then set it aside to dry completely. Repeat this for all your glass gems.
