Christmas Suncatchers For Kids
Hey there crafty friends! Are you looking for a really fun and easy Christmas craft to do with the kids this weekend? These Christmas Suncatchers for Kids are exactly what you need! Not only are they super easy to create, but the kids will be thrilled to hang them to the windows for some festive holiday decor.
For this Christmas craft project we’ll be using black glue –and if you haven’t tried it before, you’re in for a treat. Black glue so fun to work and it’s fantastic for outlining shapes and leaving a guide making it easy for little ones to color in the spaces of their suncatcher. In the end, the black glue gives a stained glass effect, that makes the colors pop. These suncatchers look stunning in the sunlight!
I’ve had a blast working on other black glue projects and I know once you see how your Christmas Suncatchers turn out, you’ll be hooked! If you’re curious, and want more fun ideas check out our Fall Leaf Suncatchers, and our Butterfly Suncatchers. We’ve also incorporated the black glue into some Christmas Art projects using the same templates.
To make things even easier, I’ve created a few Christmas templates for you to print out, or the kids can get creative and draw their own candy canes, stars, or ornaments. Either way, they’ll love experimenting with colors, and patterns.
So, if you’re ready for a fun afternoon of Christmas crafting, grab some black glue, turn up the holiday tunes, gather the kids, and let’s get crafty!

Christmas Suncatchers For Kids
What You’ll Need
- clear plastic sheets
- Sharpie markers
- black glue (recipe here)
- scissors
- double sided tape
- free Christmas templates

What To Do
Step 1
Begin by making your black glue if you don’t have any on hand. You can find the instructions to make it here. It’s super quick and easy. Just one part white glue and one part black acrylic craft paint.

Step 2
Encourage the kids to draw some Christmas art on white paper, or if you would rather use a ready made template, you can print the free Christmas template that I’ve created. Tape the template underneath the clear plastic sheet to use as a guide for the black glue.

Step 3
Trace the Christmas art outline with your black glue. Let it dry over night.

Step 4
Once the black glue is dry, Use the sharpie markers to color in the empty spaces. You can color in each space a solid color, or experiment with blending the colors together, like I did in this Fall Leaf Suncatcher post. That’s the fun part in my opinion! For this craft, I blended a dark green, and light green together for the Christmas tree.

Step 5
Cut around your artwork. This doesn’t have to be exact since it’s clear and won’t show once it’s on the window. Add a piece of double sided tape and hang in the window. Enjoy your stunning creations!

Wasn’t that a fun Christmas craft? I absolutely love how vibrant the colors pop against the black glue! Let me know if you tried this craft with the kids. Be sure to post a picture of your creations in the comment section of my Pinterest pin. I’d love to see how beautiful your suncatchers turned out!
Until next time
